Aircraft Spruce only has birch in 3/64" ply. Is birch OK is there another source for 3/64" mahogany ply?

Mark,
The original Rose rib I have is 3/64" ( about .042" with dial caliper).  My restoration used a Birch metric size .045".
I am not a wood expert, but my recollection is birch and mahogany are in the same yeild range.  Barry taylor ( APM ) has used some mahogany for looks if you don't plan to cover the wings.
Hope this helps,
Larry

Give McCormick lumber a try in Madison Wisconsin. They sell a ton of Sitka spruce and aircraft grade ply to all of us Wisconsinites. I do think they ship out of state next day.

Here is another potential source: http://www.bd-international.com/Flat%20plywood.htm

You can also try Mauricie Condon Lumber in White Plaines NY & Stormville NY 845-221-8966. Not sure what they have in plywood, but they usually have a nice supply of Spruce. Talk to Condon Bennett, he knows airplanes and will treat you OK. He used to be in a glider club with me.
